The Hon. Mr. Justice Christopher Blackman G.C.M

 Justice Christopher Blackman Mr. Justice Blackman was admitted as a Solicitor of  the Supreme Court of Barbados in January, 1970.  He became a Partner in the Barbados Law Firm of  Carrington & Sealy in 1971 and in 1987 was appointed Queen’s Counsel.

He was an independent member of the Senate of Barbados from 1986 to 1990 and also served as President of the Barbados Bar Association from 1983 to 1986 and as Chairman of the Caribbean Council of Legal Education from 1985 to 1992.

From December 1996 to April 2001, he was Chairman of the Police Service Commission.

Mr. Justice Blackman acted as a Judge of the High Court of Barbados on a number of occasions between November 1989 and November 2000.

From April 2001 to May, 2003 he was a Judge of the Supreme Court of Belize.

In June 2003, he was appointed a Judge of the High Court of Barbados and assumed office as a Justice of the Court of Appeal of the Bahamas on 1st  March 2008.

In the 2000 Independence Honours List, he was awarded the Gold Crown of Merit (GCM), Barbados’ third highest national award for his contribution to law and public service.

Prior to assuming Judicial office, Mr. Justice Blackman was active in the community life of Barbados, including being a Trustee and Synod member of the Anglican Church in Barbados and Member of the Parochial Church Council of his Parish Church for over 25 years.
